Setting up project, issues types and linking in Jira

Step-by-Step Guide

Create or select a project 

Add a new project (e.g. SAP Transport Panel) or select an existing project which consists of issues, which result in a SAP transport request.

Create or select issue types 

Add new issue types or select existing issue types for SAP transport management.

Step	Procedure	Example
1	In Jira, navigate to Admin Menu (cog wheel) → Issues → Issue Types (Sidebar)
2	Add new issue types or select existing issue types for the SAP transport management.
3	For this example following issue types are enabled with SAP Transport Panel functionality.   Name Description Type Story Issue type for a user story, which can consist of multiple SAP transport requests.  Standard Issue Type Bug A problem which impairs or prevents the functions of the product. Standard Issue Type Transport of copies An issue, which is linked to a transport of copies (ToC) in SAP. Standard Issue Type These issue types are just examples. The issue types can be named as you wish.

Create or select an issue type scheme

Add a new issue type scheme or select an existing issue type scheme for the relevant issue types.

Step	Procedure	Example
1	In Jira, navigate to Admin Menu (cog wheel) → Issues → Issue Type Scheme (Sidebar)
2	Add an issue type scheme or select an existing issue type scheme for the SAP transport management.
3	For this example an issue type scheme SAP Transport Panel: Issue Type Scheme is added via Add Issue Type Scheme Button.
4	Add the relevant issue types to the current scheme.  Field Example Description Multiple issue types for Transport requests Story  Bug An Issues type suited for the SAP transport management, which can contain multiple original Transport request links. One issue type for Transports of copies  Transport of copies An issue type containing a created Transport of copies. Click on Save

Associate the issue type scheme to the Jira project

Associate the issue type scheme to the relevant project to use the set of issue types for the SAP transport management.

Step	Procedure	Example
1	Navigate to the relevant project defined in the first step of this section.  Hint If you click on the search bar in the upper right of the Jira header the last accessed projects are listed.
2	Click on Project setting at the bottom of the left navigation bar.
3	Navigate to Issue type
4	Click on Actions and Use different scheme
5	Select the created scheme SAP Transport Panel: Issue Type Scheme. → Click on Ok

Create an issue linking

Add a new issue linking for the linkage of an automatically created transport of copies and the original transport request (Copy and release a transport in SAP via Jira transition).

1	In Jira, navigate to Admin Menu (cog wheel) → Issues → Issue Linking (Sidebar)
2	Add an issue linking or select an existing issue linking for the link between a transport copy and the original.
3	For this example an issue linking Transport is added.  Field Description Link Type Name Transport of copies Outward link description copies Inward link description is copied from Click on Add
